The investigation into the Niagara Falls night shooting incident remains active and ongoing.

The male victim, who had been transported from the area, remains in hospital in serious condition.

There is no new information on the suspect vehicle.

There remains an increased police presence in the area of ​​the shooting. Members of the Niagara Regional Police Department’s K9 Unit and Emergency Work Unit will be in the area conducting ground searches for evidence. Detectives will also scour the area.

Detectives have reason to believe it was not a random incident.

On September 7, 2022, at approximately 1:38 a.m., Niagara Falls District 2 uniformed officers of the Niagara Regional Police Service were called to report a shooting in Niagara Falls.

Officers arrived at the scene on Summer Street near Main Street in Niagara Falls. Officers located an injured man lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds. The male victim in his 20s was treated at the scene by Niagara Emergency Medical Service paramedics and transported to a local hospital. He was later airlifted to an out-of-area trauma hospital for further treatment in critical condition.

Officers’ initial investigation determined that a possible black sport utility vehicle and a possible black sedan were seen leaving the area of ​​the shooting at high speed.

2 district detectives and detectives from the forensic services unit were assigned to the investigation. The active investigation is in its early stages.
