2020 was the year when the world witnessed one of the major threats, called pandemic, which even persists. People have been forced to stay home for their own safety and that of society as well. So there was no other option for companies to adopt the work-from-home model wherever possible. This scenario triggers a massive demand for the PC accessories required for WFH, including headsets and standard webcams. I agree that there were also other products like keyboard, mouse, etc. To meet the requirement, all existing players and other capable companies have pitched in. They have tried, rather try to offer the best product possible, with cutting edge technologies and more.

Poly, with all its expertise in providing professional solutions, has brought several Work From Home PC accessories to its fans spread all over the world. The Poly Studio P5 webcam is one such solution. It is available in India along with other professional webcams and headsets. In India, the Poly Studio P5 webcam costs INR 8,610 and is available through Amazon India. I was lucky enough to experience it and have already spent more than 10 days now. So, here is my whole experience with the Poly Studio P5 on the wall.

Characteristics:

  • Exceptional camera optics: The Poly Studio P5 is a 1080p HD webcam with microphone optimized for video conferencing. An 80-degree field of view frames you perfectly, so it’s perfect for video conferencing calls, as a streaming camera, or for distance learning. Vivid color rendition and clarity make your presence impactful on video calls from your home office or personal workspace.
  • Small and Mobile: Easy to set up with its tripod stand and monitor mount clamp, our streaming webcam is portable with a sturdy design that matches any aesthetic and works anywhere you need to stream video calls.
  • Field of View: Frame yourself favorably – the HD webcam is optimized to show you and not too much of your surroundings. Maintain adequate lighting while working from home with automatic low-light technology. A built-in directional microphone focuses on your voice, not distracting noises. Designed to help you look your best, the Poly Studio P5 webcam is a must-have addition to your home office accessories.
  • Poly Lens desktop app included: The Poly Studio P5 webcam is supported by an intuitive app that lets you customize your video settings for your unique environment and get helpful updates and tips. Maintain balance throughout the day with gentle reminders of health and wellness.
  • Convenience: Improve security and privacy with the built-in privacy shutter, which prevents unintended image transmissions and gives you peace of mind. A built-in USB port on the back of the video conferencing camera simplifies the use of a Bluetooth headset or speaker and frees up ports on your computer. The detachable camera head provides the ability to view documents up close. Integrated USB-A cable. Tripod ready design. Works with Microsoft Teams (certified), Zoom (certified) and more.

Material and build:

The Poly Studio P5 is made entirely of hard plastic and comes in a gray color with many small dots on the body. It has a 1MP lens capable of capturing 1080p HD footage with autofocus. In the main unit, there is an LED fin and a microphone mesh on the top, and a privacy shutter controller is in the front part. The main webcam unit as well as the USB cable are attached freely with the clamp. Thus, it is possible to rotate the camera 360° without removing the camera from its place. The cable is long enough, allowing the Studio P5 to be placed in a wider area.

Finally, this webcam has an integrated USB port on the back. So you can easily combine other Poly accessories, for example Voyager 4320 UC, or any other accessory. This port is covered with a sliding piece.

In short, the build quality is top notch and the extra USB port makes more sense, especially for PCs with very few ports. USB-A connectivity is very good, however, a Type-C option may make this product more palatable.

Installation:

The Poly Studio P5 is a USB webcam. So, no question of pairing. All you have to do is –

  1. Install the Poly Lens app on your device
  2. Place the webcam and plug in the USB
  3. Rotate the privacy shutter counterclockwise until you get a “tik” sound and the fin light turns white (the fin will turn green when you join a meeting/session)
  4. Adjust the image from the Controls section in the Poly Lens app, if necessary

You are now ready to join your meeting or session.

To note: Be sure to open the safety shutter properly. Otherwise, the Studio P5 will not start.

Overall, the installation process is smooth and easy. If you have already installed the Poly Lens app, the installation process won’t even take three minutes.

Video quality:

This is the main thing that we as users pay for – video quality. As I mentioned before, this Poly Studio P5 has a 1MP sensor to capture 1080p HD footage. I tested it in different lighting conditions keeping the default settings. The cam covers 80° of field. If not needed, it also provides up to 4X zoom function. At first, it takes a few seconds to fix the focus on me. Once done, it keeps me in the center of attention.

I tried this webcam in daylight, artificial lighting and low light conditions. In any case, he tried to maintain a natural tone. So, here are the three cases –

Day lightI was sitting by the window

Screenshot 93

Artificial lightIt is completely under normal household lighting conditions

Screenshot 99

Low light It is with very low lighting in the room

Screenshot 101

As you can see, the Studio P5 captures natural images in daylight. In full artificial lighting, a bit of noise is visible in dark areas, however, focus on me is fine. The performance is pretty solid for me in this case. In the dark, the noises increased. Another point is that a whitish tone is visible in both daylight and artificial lighting conditions, while a warm tone is present in low light conditions. This is adjustable from the Poly Lens app.

I haven’t compared the output with any other webcam, however, the output, Poly Studio P5, is the best for keeping your image in front of your colleagues or friends.

Microphone:

Studio P5 also offers the microphone function. It is able to focus on the voice of the person sitting in front of the webcam. You can listen to the test audio clip.

It captures and processes my voice loud and clear, however, the song playing next to my room also arrives. This is obvious because there is no noise cancellation. So, I have no complaints about that. The microphone is good to have as a backup setup.

Poly Studio P5 Review - TechnoSports.co.in - 4

Software:

Poly has the common Poly Lens software for all of its devices. This application helps to adjust image parameters such as sharpness, white balance, gamma, etc. Also, this is the tool you need to update firmware. The interface is quite simple, so no need to worry about it.

Verdict

The Poly Studio P5 provides a standard video calling experience in all lighting conditions and comes with additional features such as a privacy shutter, directional microphone and USB port. In short, as I said before, this is the tool to keep your image in any video session.

The Poly Studio P5 is available in India through Amazon India at a price of INR 8,610. You can refer to the link below.

In today’s world where video calling is the primary way to contact others, a clear camera is essential. Sure, your laptop’s camera is a handy option, but most built-in cameras in these devices have poor video quality. That said, you might want to consider the Logitech C920s Pro webcam. Not only does it provide amazing clarity in video streaming, but it will also help you get up to $10 off today!

We still want a compact yet powerful webcam. Both qualities are available in Logitech C920s Pro. This economical and usable from anywhere webcam will help you make a strong impression during your video conferences. Your transmission will be smooth and more professional during virtual meetings, thanks to its 1080p/30fps and 720p/30fps resolutions.

It features a five-element Full HD glass lens and a fixed 78-degree diagonal field of view that will allow you to easily frame yourself in your Full HD videos. Logitech RightLight 2 technology adds perfection to its video capability. With the help of this feature, the lighting conditions in the area where you are using the camera will be the basis for the camera light settings. That said, images will be bright and contrasty, even in poor lighting conditions. Plus, the premium autofocus will adjust smoothly and precisely for sharp, clear images every time.

For audio, Logitech C920s Pro offers two built-in microphones. They can capture more realistic sound from a wider range of angles, so your voice will sound natural and clear in conference calls, Zoom meetings, video recordings, and more.

The Logitech C920s Pro can also be a good content creation tool. It integrates Logitech’s Capture app which will let you create, record and edit or fully customize your videos and streams with a suite of features.

Installation is easy as it has a 5 foot (1.5 meter) USB-A cable. It is also compatible with a wide range of systems (Windows 7 and above, macOS 10.10 or above, Chrome OS 29.0.1547.70 or above). And when you need complete privacy, you can simply close its shutter and open it when you need the camera. Click here for more information on this offer.

Looking for a new webcam to go along with your work-from-home (or even office) setup? Microsoft has you covered with its “modern webcam” which is also “Teams certified”, meaning it’s ready to use with Teams without too much hassle. Sure, this webcam will work well in any application, but the Teams Certified stamp is there to let you know that if you use Teams, this is the accessory for you.

It’s been a few years since Microsoft last shipped a webcam, so it’s good to see the company is back with something new. Unfortunately, it’s not a flagship webcam, which means it’s not 4K or includes Windows Hello facial recognition support. It’s simply a webcam designed for video conferencing, and it does a great job, but with a few caveats.

There are plenty of great webcams out there, so be sure to check out our roundup of the best webcams for Windows PCs in 2022! I’ve been using the Microsoft Modern Webcam for a little over a month now. Here is my review:

Modern webcam: Price and availability

Modern webcam from MicrosoftSource: Windows Central

The Microsoft Modern Webcam is available directly from the Microsoft Store for an MSRP of $70. However, right now you can grab the webcam for just $55, making it a bargain regardless of the downsides. It can also be found on Amazon; however, prices there often fluctuate above and below $70.

Modern webcam: what is good

Modern webcam from MicrosoftSource: Windows Central

The Microsoft Modern Webcam is a sleek and functional little camera that sits above your monitor with the included stand/tripod. It comes in a glossy black finish and looks super clean in any configuration. It has a built-in privacy shield that uses satisfying magnets to open and close, with the closed position also cutting power to the camera in addition to actually covering the lens. When active, there’s a small ring of light that surrounds the sensor letting you know the camera is on.

It’s also designed to be plug and play, meaning you can just plug the USB-A cable into your PC and you should be good to go, with no real setup required. That said, if you want to customize the webcam, Microsoft offers an app called “Microsoft Accessory Center” that will allow you to do so. Here you can change settings like color temperature, HDR on or off, auto white balance, etc.

Here are all the things you can set up with the Microsoft Accessories Center app:

  • HDR on/off
  • Retouch on/off
  • Brightness
  • Contrast
  • Saturation
  • Acuity
  • white balance
  • Auto Exposure
  • Flicker reduction
  • Enable/disable the webcam microphone

The performance of the camera itself perfectly acceptable. It’s a 1080p shooter, featuring a 78-degree field of view, HDR support, auto exposure, auto white balance, and anti-flicker capabilities. . It’s a well-rounded sensor that looks great in well-lit environments. Microsoft does a good job of adjusting exposure so that your face is always the most visible, even if you have a bright light source such as a window directly behind you.

I also came away rather impressed with the low-light performance of this webcam. While still quite noisy, the webcam didn’t drop frames in an attempt to open the sensor and let in more light. I stayed smooth on video, which is nice to see and makes a big difference when presenting on video calls.

I also found that this camera does not seek focus randomly as much as others. My Logitech BRIO 4K is really prone to randomly seeking focus on my face, even though I hadn’t moved much in frame. I did not notice this behavior on the Microsoft Modern Webcam.

Modern webcam: What is not good

Modern webcam from MicrosoftSource: Windows Central

In our tests, the Microsoft Accessory Center app needs some work. We found that it often forgets the settings and sometimes does not apply the color temperature settings even after selecting them from the drop-down menu. It’s not a big deal, as it takes a few seconds to go back into the app to reapply the settings, but it’s a bit annoying.

Some color temperature settings are also a little strong, and the same effect may differ randomly without changing anything in your frame. Sometimes this gives the impression that the filters you apply are not taking effect, as the differences between certain effects are sometimes incredibly minor or non-existent.

The biggest downside to this webcam is the built-in microphone, which it seems even Microsoft doesn’t recommend you use. By default, the webcam comes with the built-in mic disabled, and attempting to enable it in the Microsoft Accessories Center app will present you with a warning that this microphone is not Teams certified.

The built-in mic just isn’t good.

I’m really happy to see that Microsoft has added an option to enable or disable the built-in mic, since a lot of people have setups where they already have a dedicated microphone and don’t need Windows to confuse themselves with the mic it has. should use. It’s also beneficial here because the built-in mic just isn’t good.

Sound often sounds buzzy and noisy, even with the mic gain settings turned off. It’s not a pleasant mic to listen to, which is probably why it’s disabled by default. My Surface Laptop 4’s built-in mic did a much better job of audio, and Windows will default to your set mic if the webcam mic is disabled in the accessories app.

Finally, there is no Windows Hello built into this webcam. For the price, you probably shouldn’t expect it, but if you were looking for a Microsoft solution to add Windows Hello to your existing desktop PC, this isn’t the product for you.

Modern webcam: Video and audio test

Here’s a brief video and audio performance test, including an audio comparison with the Surface Studio 2’s built-in mic.

Modern webcam: Competetion

Logitech Brio 4KSource: Windows Central

The webcam market is full of all kinds of different webcams, ranging from high-end 4K 120 FPS sensors to low-cost 720p cameras. The Microsoft Modern Webcam sits comfortably in the middle, being relatively affordable with sufficient performance in well-lit environments.

If you’re looking for something high-end, the Logitech BRIO 4K is our recommendation. It has a 4K sensor, up to 60 FPS video recording, dual-array mics, and even Windows Hello built-in. But it all comes at a premium price of $200, well above the Microsoft Modern Webcam, at just $99.

Alternatively, we have the Logitech C920, arguably the king of 1080p webcams. It has a wide 78 degree field of view, dual microphones and a glass lens for clarity. Microsoft’s modern webcam competes very well with this device, but I think Logitech beats it by a small margin thanks to its slightly better image quality.

We also have the HP 320 FHD and 325, similarly priced to the Microsoft Modern Webcam, 1080p sensor, but with a slightly narrower 66-degree field of view. That said, these HP webcams are mounted on a 360 bracket, which is unique, but could be useful in certain scenarios.

Modern webcam: Should I buy it?

Modern webcam from MicrosoftSource: Windows Central

You should buy it if…

  • You need a basic, high-performance webcam
  • Looking for something that is plug and play
  • Already have a dedicated microphone

You shouldn’t buy it if…

  • You need something with a good built-in microphone
  • You want Windows Hello facial recognition

The Microsoft Modern Webcam is a great choice for anyone looking for a camera that excels in everyday video conferencing in apps like Microsoft Teams. If you’re presenting to large audiences or attending small team meetings, you can’t go wrong with the modern webcam.

3.5
out of 5

That said, all is not perfect. Although I came away impressed with the video quality, even in low-light scenarios, the built-in microphone is just plain bad. Microsoft ships the webcam with the microphone disabled for this reason, so I recommend a dedicated microphone instead.

Globally. for the price, I think you’re getting a good deal with the modern webcam, as long as you’re using a different microphone. The build quality is good, it looks sleek on top of any monitor or screen, and the built-in privacy shutter with magnets is a really nice touch.

Dell’s new 32-inch UltraSharp video conferencing monitor supports 4K in several ways – the first, obvious to a display, is its 3840 x 2160 panel. But it also has a built-in 4K webcam, perfect for the era. Zoom meetings and work from home. Better yet, you can connect to the monitor with a single USB-C cable, which will provide a video signal to the screen and send 90W of power back to your laptop.

The monitor’s official name is U3223QZ (Dell’s name is still eye-catching as ever) and its webcam uses a Sony 4K HDR STARVIS CMOS sensor. It’s similar to the imaging technology Dell uses for its $ 200 UltraSharp external webcam, but unlike this device, the monitor has two built-in microphones. Dell also says you’ll be able to adjust the camera’s tilt by 20 degrees and switch between the 65, 78, and 90-degree fields of view. All of this should allow you to present yourself clearly in meetings (if it’s something you want to do, not everyone does!).

The webcam will allow you to be crystal clear during meetings and will also allow you to unlock your computer with Windows Hello.
Image: Dell

This webcam is connected to a properly specified display: it’s 31.5 inches, IPS, and runs at 60Hz. While the low refresh rate means it probably won’t be a game streamer’s first choice – shame, because a built-in face camera would actually be handy – that should be fine for a home (or regular) office. Plus, it has two built-in 14W speakers, which should allow you to hear everyone you talk to quite well, although they might appreciate it if you just used headphones instead.

The monitor also has a lot to offer beyond the screen and video conferencing functionality. If you connect to it with USB-C, it basically acts as a hub, giving you access to five 10 Gbps USB-A ports, Ethernet, and another USB-C port. If your computer supports display stream compression, you can even use the monitor’s DisplayPort out port to daisy-chain another 4K monitor. Oh, and like some other Dell monitors, the U3223QZ has a dedicated Microsoft Teams button on the front.

Dell absolutely packed this monitor with ports, but you only need one USB-C cable to connect to it.
Image: Dell

It also has HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.4 input ports, and if you plug in multiple devices, you can view them in either picture-by-picture or picture-in-picture mode. Practically, it also has a built-in KVM, which allows you to use a pair of peripherals with multiple computers.

The ergonomic situation also seems pretty solid: the U3223QZ’s stand supports tilt, swivel, and height adjustments. If that’s not enough, it also has 100mm x 100mm VESA mounting holes for attaching the screen to a monitor arm.

The monitor will be available from March 29, and Dell has said it will share pricing information closer to the release date.

Correction, January 6: The original version of this article stated that the monitor stand supports vertical orientation, citing Dell’s 3D demo. Dell informed us that there was an error in the 3D demo, and that this model cannot be used vertically.

REVIEW – If you are now working from home or even if you have always worked from home, it is almost certain that you have attended meetings through the Zoom Google Meet video apps or Microsoft Teams. Chances are, if you trust a laptop’s built-in camera, you’re probably not happy with the way you appear on the screen. Why is that? Most laptop video cameras have a resolution of 720 ppi, similar to low resolution. Think digital photos from the early 2000s and you get the picture (pun intended). If the image quality you present in meetings does not meet your standards, there is an easy solution: the Movo WebMic HD Pro webcam.

What is that?

The Movo WebMic HD Pro webcam consists of a few products combined into one easy-to-use webcam. It contains condenser microphone, HD webcam and LED ring light that can produce high quality imagery for meeting, online teaching or vlogging.

The Movo WebMic looks like an old radio microphone. It’s pretty cool with its stand / handle which makes it easy to carry. If you don’t want the stand, a stand is included to place it on the top edge of a monitor.

The lens is in 1080p HD. This captures high resolution video that provides noticeable detail both to you and to the people watching on the screen. You just can’t get this in 720p resolution. If that doesn’t improve your appearance, the WebMic also comes equipped with an LED ring light that will reduce or eliminate weird shadows by providing even lighting for your face. This light has three settings: low, medium and high. The cardioid condenser microphone has a directional pickup with background noise rejection that helps clarify the voice.

Specifications

  • 1080p camera
  • Cardioid microphone with directional microphone
  • LED ring light
  • Bracket and stand included
  • Power cord
  • USB-C to USB A cable

Design and functionality

Let’s face it (get it?), You want to look your best during business meetings. If you have a visual challenge like I am, there isn’t much I can do to improve my image and the Movo WebMic HD Pro webcam can help me look better.

Setting up WebMic couldn’t be easier. With my MacBook Pro, I just had to connect the WebMic to the MacBook pro. That’s it, all the power goes through the USB cable. My business prefers Zoom for meetings over Microsoft Teams and Google Meet. When the WebMic was connected, Zoom instantly recognized the connection and I was able to choose it for both audio and video.

The WebMic can be used on the stand or sitting on the monitor using the included adjustable stand. When attached to the bracket, the camera does not tilt and is only adjustable up and down.

The included stand will only attach to the top edge of the monitor. It is not adjustable for side mounting. My working screen is a rounded back graphics screen that I can draw on, so it’s a bit thicker than a laptop screen. This makes the attachment awkward and less stable using the bracket. It is not easy to adjust the angle or the lighting without the cam loosening. This is something to consider depending on your monitor setup.

The camera is wide-angle, which means you can see more of the background around me than the ugly low-res MacBook Pro camera. It helps me want to keep my home office cleaner than it could be otherwise.

My home office has a lot of outdoor lighting so I don’t need the LED light ring. However, it can help for early and late meetings when it is not very bright outside. In addition, the camera captures enough light by itself without the help of ring light. So it’s a win-win situation.

The brightness of the lighting can be adjusted with the push of a button on the back of the WebMic. There is also a button to take a snapshot of the image. I do not know

Note that the ring light can reflect two circles of light on those who wear glasses.

Microphone quality is good for Zoom meetings. My colleagues had no trouble understanding me and I rang a little closer and more clearly than with the small microphone on the laptop. Mic gain control is included, allowing the mic tone / audio volume to be adjusted to your liking. There is no decibel count on the knob, so the setting is random until you are satisfied. Press the gain switch to mute / unmute the mic. However, it is easier to turn the sound on / off using the meeting software as pressing the button hits the camera which will disrupt the image.

The WebMic has a 3.5mm headphone jack for audio privacy. However, I prefer to listen through my desktop stereo speakers.

What I like

  • Easy to set up and use
  • Good picture quality
  • Ring light eliminates weird shadows and smoothes facial features
  • Ring light works as advertised

What i would change

  • Ring light can leave reflections on lenses.
  • Bracket cannot be attached laterally (at a vertical edge)

Final thoughts

The Movo WebMic HD Pro webcam is essential if your laptop or iPad does not have a 1080p camera. Plus, it can be placed out of center or higher than the laptop’s camera for a more direct view. While the video quality isn’t 4k, the WebMic HD Pro is perfect for online business meetings or video meetings when you want to look your best.

Price: US $ 199.99.

The recent boom in remote working has given many people the option of giving up commuting, whether it’s for a few days a week or for good. But for those of us who still brave rush hour, the journey can be tedious, stressful and frustrating.

According to TUC, before the pandemic, Britons spent on average just under an hour commuting to work each day. And even if you took the train, you would probably spend about the same time on a single trip, according to data from Statista.

So if you’re still battling traffic, it’s worth investing in a product or two that can improve your commute. We’ve listed our favorite carrying gadgets below, with options for walking and cycling, as well as driving and taking the bus or train.

Our favorite gadgets for commuting against boredom

Kindle Oasis

What could be better than a book to keep you occupied during your journeys? An e-reader with access to millions of different publications, including newspapers and audiobooks!

Kindle Oasis is Amazon’s most advanced e-reader to date, featuring a seven-inch display and “e-ink technology” for a realistic reading experience and fast page turns.

One of the best features of this model is its ability to sync with headphones or bluetooth speakers and start playing the audiobook from where you stopped reading. (You will need an Audible account to take advantage of this benefit.)

Plus, the Kindle Oasis can survive a drop in the water, so you can read in the tub or on a lounge chair by the pool without fear.

Bose 700 noise canceling bluetooth headphones

Bose 700 noise canceling bluetooth headphones

Being able to exclude the hubbub of public transport makes the trip less stressful, and a pair of noise canceling headphones might be the most useful commuting gadget yet.

Bose is a well-respected brand when it comes to audio technology, so why not treat yourself to these headphones, with no less than 11 levels of noise cancellation? You’ll also get up to 20 hours of battery life, Alexa / Google Assistant connectivity, and four microphones to improve audio quality during phone calls.

You can even use the handy “talk mode” to turn off the noise cancellation if you need to interact with those around you.

Jabra Elite Active 75t wireless headphones

Jabra Elite Active 75t wireless headphones

If you want to listen to your favorite tunes or podcasts without having to carry bulky headphones, try these wireless headphones. With their grippy coating, they stay inside the ear when you move – and they’re waterproof to survive rain showers.

A full charge can give you up to 7.5 hours of battery life or 5.5 hours with noise cancellation turned on. Or you can get an hour of battery life with the 15-minute quick charge feature.

Like the Bose headphones above, these headphones connect to common voice assistants and have four microphones to improve call quality. They will work within 10m of your phone and come with a handy case to keep them safe when not in use.

Take a look at the best wireless headphones for all budgets in our helpful guide.

It has three different speed settings and you can recharge the battery with the included USB cable. A five hour charge should provide up to nine hours of battery life.

The folding design makes it easy to slip it into your bag or place it on your desk if you want to use it at the office. And as a bonus, the simple design makes it pleasing to the eye; you can choose your favorite color from white, steel, olive and magenta.

You don’t need to feel left out if you drive to work; there are many ways to access entertainment in your car.

This smart kit plugs into your car’s cigarette lighter port and streams music from Bluetooth devices, SD cards and USB drives. It can also take calls, provide GPS navigation through your phone’s app, and charge two devices at a time through the USB ports.

It’s relatively simple to set up: just place your FM radio on a blank station between 87.5-108 MHz, then tune the transmitter to the same frequency.

The Bluetooth transmitter has a useful LED display showing audio volume, supply voltage and FM frequency. And there is an ambient blue glow when plugged in, which gives your car interior a stylish feel.

NextBase 122 Dash Cam

NextBase 122 Dash Cam

NextBase is a great brand to consider if you’re looking to get a dash cam. While these gadgets may not be the most entertaining products on the market, they are worth the investment if you find yourself involved in a traffic incident.

The 122 is NextBase’s entry-level dash camera and released to the first driver, but it’s also great if you don’t want to spend a fortune. It comes with a 720p HD camera and a 4G lens for recording crystal clear footage.
