In today’s hybrid work environment, access to a high quality webcam to handle your video conferencing needs is a must. The Nexigo N970P 4K Webcam offers small business users clear UHD 4K video and a robust feature set typically reserved for more expensive conference room cameras for a fraction of the cost, at $200.

With the ability to shoot in 4K UHD at 30 frames per second, the N970P delivers crisp detail, vibrant color and excellent low-light performance. However, I found that the AI focusing and panning could be slow at times as it struggled to follow its subject.

All in all, the Nexigo N970P 4K webcam is a strong contender for our best webcams page thanks to its excellent quality for the price.

Nexigo N970P 4K Webcam Price and Compatibility

The Nexigo N970P isn’t going to win a beauty contest with its basic silver and black design on a hard plastic shell, even though there are some neat silver elements near its lens. Although it’s a tired design, substance over style is a win when it comes to peripherals.

The large lens is centered in the unit and has a silver painted star that reminds me of Sauron’s eye from Lord of the Rings; I like it. The foldable and adjustable stand provides excellent strength and a firm grip on your monitor.

You’ll find a built-in 1/4-20 tripod mount at the bottom if you don’t want to mount the Nexigo to your monitor.

Overall the unit has a substantial feel, thanks to its size to weight ratio. On the back of the device, there is a USB Type-B port, which allows you to connect directly to your PC or laptop. The N970P comes with a remote control, which lets you control zoom, pan, focus, backlight, and menu functions. In the box we find a sturdy and thick 9.5ft USB 3.0 Type-B cable.

Video and sound quality of the Nexigo N970P 4K webcam

The Nexigo N970P can shoot 4K at 30 frames per second, putting it on par with the Konftel Cam 20, but that’s not all it can do. It comes with video conferencing camera features, such as autofocus on multiple subjects, excellent low-light performance, crystal-clear image quality, and well-saturated colors. For $200, that’s a lot of power considering the Konftel 20 camera costs nearly $200 more, and the Meeting Owl Pro will cost you around $1,000. The Nexigo gently dips into both of these conference camera feature sets for a cheaper price.

I recorded video using Microsoft’s camera app, and the footage was comparable to some mirrorless cameras I’ve used to record footage directly to my laptop. The 10x zoom feature works well and gets closer to the subject without pixelating the image.

The N970P quickly adapts to changes in different lighting conditions, which is a feature I love. I tested this by turning off the lights in my workspace and the Nexigo adjusted to the new lighting almost instantly. Even in low light, the N970P’s image was clear with no distortion.

It warmly saturated my red t-shirt and retained the varying gray tones of my background despite the lack of ambient light. When I turned the lights back on, they quickly adapted to the burst of light. Autofocus is excellent, as is the ability to focus while using the remote control manually. Another premium feature included with the Nexigo N970P is its ability to focus on multiple members in a conference setting and focus on the speaker. However, since you’re only working with a 90 degree field of view, some may feel a bit cramped, but I think it’s enough to cover most small conference rooms and up to eight people. If you need a wider field of view, Konftel’s lens offers a 123 degree lens.

The Nexigo N970P has a pair of built-in omnidirectional noise canceling mics that work very well and block out a good amount of background noise while focusing on your voice, even as you move around the room. Using it to chat with my daughter using google meet, my tv was on and she never heard it in the background. Considering my TV is only a meter away from where I was using the Nexigo, I was rather impressed with its noise canceling performance, as it easily outperformed the Konftels mic array.

Nexigo N970P 4K webcam software

The Nexigo is a plug-and-play device. All you have to do is plug the included USB Type-A cable into your computer, and that’s it. There is no special software or driver. Nexigo offers free driver updates and excellent customer service. I had a self created glitch trying to set up auto focus and auto framing via the remote and the Nexigo team responded to my email within hours with a driver update and an instructional video that made me use the N970P like a pro. If I had gone to them to placeI could have handled it myself, but the Nexigo team jumped on it and walked me through it.

The Nexigo N970P comes with a one year warranty.

Conclusion

The Nexigo N970P ($199) is an excellent webcam for video conferencing that won’t break the bank. It comes with features you see in much more expensive professional conference cameras, and if you’re a streamer looking to improve your streaming quality, it’s a solid option. If you’re a small business owner on a budget but don’t want your video conferences to look cheap, the N970P is definitely for you.

With the versatile 90 degree wide angle that you can pan, tilt and zoom (with the handy remote), users have plenty of options to get the most out of the Nexigo N970P. If you’re looking for a new webcam or desktop conferencing camera, the Nexigo is an option you should seriously consider.
